Call a Smeerp a "Rabbit": While some information about the Chimera Ants demonstrates some surprising depth of knowledge, most of the "ants" look nothing like insects in the least. Bug War: What they trigger, a much more strategical and Shounen variant to the norm given how smart the "bugs" are. Bodyguarding a Badass: The Royal Guards are powerful, but it is clear that the King is much more powerful than them. It's noted that the Queen should have only been 10 cm, not over 2 m. They get their chance when Queen dies, but they're put down before they can really get started. Big Bad Wannabe: A number of them chafe at following orders and express a desire to set out to carve empires of their own. 
Authority Equals Asskicking: The King plus his royal guard are the strongest possible creatures produced by the Queen. Assimilation Backfire: Though taking human DNA making them stronger, smarter, and more powerful, it leads to their downfall by giving a sense of individuality, which creates rivalries and ambitions that tear apart the army. Then there's the Royal Guards and the Chimera Ant King. The human-hybrid ants are even stronger and smarter, eventually learning how to use Nen after encounters with users like Gon and Killua. They're typically very small, but a Queen somehow bigger than most humans manages to find itself in a nation filled with animals, going on to consume them and eventually most of the human population too, creating super-powerful ants that quickly take over. Ant Assault: They are carnivorous invasive insects hailing from the Dark Continent, whose members are created from the DNA of whatever the Queen eats.
